Lorene Smith

Lorene Benge Smith, age 93, of Berea, widow of Preston Smith, passed away, November 19, 2022 at Berea Health and Rehabilitation.
She was one of nine children born to Everett and Nannie Stewart Benge. She was a member of Middletown Baptist Church. She loved reading, John Wayne movies, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, and seven brothers.
She is survived by her children, Gwina (James) Poff, and Mitchell (Rhonda) Smith; eight grandchildren, Amy (Adam) Harding, Joseph (Deanna) Smith, Kathy (Michael) Coyle, Ashley (John) Leek, Joseph Covey, Justin Covey, Janie Poff, and James Poff; twenty great grandchildren, Corey (Heather) Harding, Caitlin (Bobby) Charlton, Hunter Harding, Presley Harding, Lucas Harding, Olivia Harding, Alyssa Harding, Khloe Harding, Timberlynn Harding, Layla Harding, Tyler Smith, Lomae Smith, Colby Smith, Tristan Richardson, Wyatt Richardson, Tucker Leek, Lucas Leek, Hailey Leek, Peyton Covey, and Mathew Poff; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Lakes Funeral Home with Pastor William Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Corey Harding, Hunter Harding, Presley Harding, Lucas Harding, Tristan Richardson, and Wyatt Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker Leek, Lucas Leek, Lomae Smith, Colby Smith, Tyler Smith, Remington Charlton, and Trent Davidson.
